I had exactly the same trouble with my 1977 mini (ghost of lucas) Problem was the starter soleniod sticking....simple solution for me was to hit it hard! As i was a student an too broke to replace it i always carried a small ball pein hammer around for starting.....just in case S1 XJ6 1973 Mat
