[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index] Basket XJ-S
Went to look at a '76 XJ-S at the weekend. The owner on the phone said that it just needed the rear callipers looking at and generally tidying up. When I got there I got "yeah, the floor needs some attention too". When the carpets were pulled back I could see the road! The whole floor was like tin foil and about half of the inner sills were gone. Strange that it had six months MoT left though. Need more than a tidy up I thought. Why do people do that? OK so it *was* advertised as spares or repair and only for 600 quid. For the amount it's going to cost to replace the entirety of the underside and then probably lots of other stuff I could get a reasonable HE with a better gearbox, more leather, wood trim, alloys, etc etc. The old pre-HE autos aren't *really* sought after are they? I saw a '77 advertised for 4,000 uk pounds! I can't believe it'd be worth me repairing this one. OK, just had to tell somebody! Steve
