Hello All With all of the input on the cooling system on the V-12, I wanted to caution members on the refill process. One of the posts had to do with the reason for dropping valve seats. The author correctly points out that under certain circumstances a steam pocket or pocket of air in the cooling system is the culprit. To avoid air in the cooling system, I have lifted the front of the car to create a tilt to the rear when filling the coolant system. I have found that this help avoid air in the system. After filling I also "burp" the air from the system. I have found that regardless of how the system is refilled, there is always at least a little air present. Following these steps should help avoid overheating due to air in the cooling system, and save us all some money. Good luck. John Reven 1990 XJS V-12
