Re: [xj-s] Still Looking to buy

Hi,

Have just been reading the 2 major jag monthlies in the UK.

The hot tip is to buy the 6 cyl xj-s models, if you can get an 86 cabrio,
bite the owners hand off!!!.
These are rated highly, and will become the collected model, only 5000
built, and 983 with manual transmission...

the 24 valve 6 cyl engine produces 286 bhp, against the 325 of the V12, and
which is lighter?..

I have the 6-cyl with manual, and boy it goes well up to 80 or so, plus i
can easily get 25-28 mpg (imperial). Ok its not quite so smooth, but it is
relative. I think I can also rebuild the aj6 engine at less than 50% of the
V12 unit.

I know that some of this doesnt apply in the USA, as we didnt start choking
our cars with catalytics etc until post 90'ish. Whereas you had that stuff
earlier.

regards

David L
