Just wanted to add my 2 cents to the overheating sagas. My 88's needle was running somewhere between N and Oh My God. I put less than 1000 miles per year on the car so my answer was to park the car until the temp outside was below 75 degrees. After the dealer quoted me $850 to remove and repair the radiator, I took the car to the radiator repair shop they would have used. When he removed the radiator, he was amazed. The air space between the A/C condensor and the radiator was packed with anything and everything, so much so that air flow was nearly impossible. The radiator itself was 60% blocked and required rebuilding. He also replaced the fan clutch, and did all this for less the $300US. The day I picked up the car it was 105 degrees. The car ran perfectly at a tick below N. Unfortunately, I think the overheating on a few occasions did some damage, as I now have blue smoke from the right side. I should have repaired this 2 years ago. I wonder if this space between the radiator and the condensor could be cleaned on a regular basis? Might save some engines.
