Hi Mike,

I also have an 88 XJ-S V-12 Hess&Eisenhardt Convertible (my wife's actually)
I think it is the best looking of all the XJ-S's made and I would love to have
it in a Manual version instead of the Borg-Warner unit. I was led to believe
that there were some manuals made in the UK is that true?
If so, I wonder how hard it would be to convert?

I sometimes travel to the UK and have rented cars there as well as in
Sweden, and all the rental cars are manual transmission. A rental car
there with an automatic is about as rare as getting a stick shift rental
car in the US. Car rental companies give customers what they want!

What the hell is the matter with US drivers? Don't they want to have any
fun at all when driving? I also have a top-of-the line Jeep Grand Cherokee
and am really pissed that I can not get this car in a manual version. I can
if I am willing to take the cheapest model Jeep they make with the really
crappy interior.

As you can see I really HATE automatics .... And don't even get me
started on ABS brakes!

Thanks, now I feel better. Think I'll take out the E-Type OTS to get
my shifting fix for the day.

Regards Nils
