God Bless all Jaguar Experts. They are needed in this world!

My Jag has problem keeping its cool when I spin around the city. More
precicely, the indication is slightly (2- 3 mm) above normal. The same when
it idles. The indicator rests slightly above Normal.

When on the highway (50 - 70 mph), the indicator wishfully goes down and
overlaps Normal. At high speeds, the indicator goes even lower - that' s
when I get a happy face and I am really proud of my cat. When I slow down
the indicator rises. To let out a secret, my girlfriend would find the up-
and- down movement of the temperature indicator quite amusing.

I can live with this overheating problem and I lived with it for the last 1
year. The other day, I kindly offered my cat a nice check- up. The dealer
found that the radiator is seriously clogged - By the way, I performed a
pressure test on the radiator; No leaks were found - That is the reason it
overheats. They casually offered to replace the radiator with a new one. I
laughed sinically at the idea of spending $1,000 for the job. The service
men kept looking at me seriously, so I shut up abraptly and said I will
think about it.

Although, I will miss the up- and- down movement of the temp. indicator, I
would also love to see my cat running without a heartburn.

Is there any way I unclog the radiator without lightening my wallet by
$1,000? I would apreciate any comments.
Does the engine get damaged by prolonged running at higher than normal
temperatures?
--------------------
Also, I got this crazy idea of getting rid of the noisy, huge, heavy yellow
mechanical fan and replacing it with an electric one. This will be my
reaction to the overheating problem I have, by relieving the engine from the
burden of rotating the fan as well. Also, during the winter the engine will
warm- up faster if I restict the electric fan' s use by some electronic
means. How difficult a job is it, bearing in mind that I am an Electrical/
Electronics Engineer? Can anyone tell me?
--------------------
Also, how about an oil cooler?
-----------------------

Sorry, if I ask too many questions. Before I finish, I would like to say
that I checked the list archives for answers to these questions. I got some
information but not everything.

Thanks in advance,

Chris,
