My engine clearly came from a hybrid era, because my > block is UNC and UNF, and my heads are metric. Engine dates from 1984. Unbelievable! I never knew ANY fasteners on the engine itself went metric! And doing just SOME of them makes such good sense! Mine are genuine 5/16", exactly as specified in the ROM, and my car is an '83. > On my engine all tappet block cap heads, studs and nuts are M8 coarse, so no > confusion on mine. The NUTS are coarse thread? Including the ones on the cam bearing caps? I'd be hesitant to use the torque spec from the ROM, since it says it's for UNF nuts. > My service manual is AKM 9006 Ed 5. Copyright date is 1988. What is yours? Repair Operation Manual, AKM 3455, copyright 1975. The supplement is AKM 3455/S1 copyright 1982, but doesn't mention any revised torque data. -- Kirbert | If anything is to be accomplished, | some rules must be broken. | - Palm's Postulate References:
