Kirbert, << OK, here's an idea: what we need is a screen filter installed in the upper radiator hoses to catch all this crap. Might be an acceptable idea to make these things temporary, only put in for the first few hundred miles after a rebuild. But if they work at all, why not leave them in permanently? Every now and then, pull them out and clean the crud out and reinstall. Hmmmm. Maybe I should apply for a patent. I could see a market for an assortment of filter units, each for a different radiator hose diameter. >> Go to a industrial paint spray equipment supplier, the high pressure "pumps" that supply the paint to the guns have S/S filters that may do the job. The ones I have are about 1 1/4" dia. X 3" long with a strengthening spring on the inside. Block one end off fab up a stainless collar on the other end that is a tight fit for the ID dia. of the hose and jam it in just upstream of the rad. If there are patents being awarded, you heard it here first !!!! Remember it was me who told you about the steel plate head removal tool as well! Incidentally, the same guy removed another head by welding two hole saws together (one on top of the other) and drilling the crap out from around the head studs.
