With a larger leak like a hose split, I've had the light come on but the expansion tank has been virtually full. I worked it out like this:- when the engine cools, instead of it sucking coolant from the expansion tank it just sucks in air through the hole. What about relocating it to the engine filler tube??? I've always found that place is the first to show lack of coolant when something's a miss. IMHO as always... Richard XJS-HE '83 (Steam powered, still)
