I did fitted remote entry to my car '76 XJ-S when I fitted an Alpine alarm.

I had previously removed the rocker switch and fitted a late model door
lock solenoid - So that it would lock and unlock from the key.

Anyway, even this basically became redundant. - If you wire up directly
to the door lock/unlock relays (I think unlock is on the left side and lock is
on the right side of the car (Very stupid!!!)) You should be able to keep the
switch on the center console connected. Firing the remote will activate
the relay in your keyless entry which will switch either the lock or unlock.

This is also a possible part of my alarm, from a second button - It's still in
the too hard pile!
