No they all do eventually. I hate that. Foolishly I used a tar like underbody coating over it to "hold it together" better when I first purchased it(not knowing how hot it gets). I had tar on everything for a couple weeks. It ended up working great though(if youre willing to carry denatured alcohol with you for a couple weeks). Perhaps someone else has a better idea. 88 XJ-S Paul ______________________________ Reply Separator _________________________________ Subject: [xj-s] Insulation Under The Hood is Falling Apart Author: bu988@freenet.carleton.ca (Kamal Dev. Uppal) at Internet Date: 6/30/98 11:01 PM I have noticed this many times. When I would open the hood of my car, I would notice brown peices teared off from the insulation undeneath the hood on the engine surface. Is this normal? I am fearing that this may be due to the heat of the engine (although the thermostat is reporting normal temperature). Perhaps this is just a simple problem that can be fixed by taping the edges of the insulation to prevent further decay.
