So seriously, What is wrong with using unleaded 96? There is a theory that burning unleaded in cars without catalytic convertors produces unhealthy aromatic compounds, but as 99% of cars in New Zealand run on unleaded petrol (admittedly most now use 91 octane) and 1% have catalytic convertors an extra Jag or two is not going to poison us. I also believe that (unlike Australia) New Zealand has always been supplied from the UK with UK spec engines and emission equipment, so that NZ-new cars are no different to UK-new in their petrol requirements.
