The oil filter is attached to a block on the side of the engine. At the rear of this block is a blanking plug quite close to the bell housing. if the washer under this blanking plug fails over time (fibre washer in my case) you can change all the O rings without fixing the leak. Remove the block which is bolted to the engine, and put a copper washer under the blanking plug was my fix. Regards Peter Smith
