Dear Jag-Lovers: I tuned up my WIFE'S 1992 XJS-V12 convertible and had some EXCELLENT results. Parts used: Part Manufacture/ Part number (PN) cost($US) rotor NAPA EP896 $30.03 rotor cap NAPA EP897 $82.30(ouch!) Spark Plugs Bosch Platin HR6DP $38.84(3.07ea..) Spark Plug Wires Borg Warner "Koolwire"CH71007 $61.79 ************************************************************************ I've used this type of plug wire on all my other cars with excellent results. They are 8mm with extra-thick wall boots and a METALLIC wound conductor( "0" ohm resistance). HEAT and age don't seem to affect them. The ones on my vet are 8 years old and still performing like new. They also come with a life time warranty. You can locate a distributor in your area by contacting Borg Warner at E-mail address : atsales@bwdautomotive.com Their www address is Http://www2.borg-warner.com/BW/ I have also always been pleased with Bosch Platin spark plugs. (I don't own stock or work for either Bosch or BW) Prior to doing the tune-up the "Little Darling" had starting running rough when warmed up and finally stalled on me(READ: left me stranded THE UNHOLY BEAST) and had to be towed home. Lucky My wife wasn't driving at the time or the pink slip would of been signed OFF, left under the windshield wipers, and my love abandoned on the side of the road. All plugs I REMOVED were set .035-.040(!) inch, and looked pretty black. The rotor and cap had a lot of corrosion. She has 26,000miles on her now, 25,000 when I purchased her from the Jag dealer. I figure all parts were original. I took a cheap 12 inch flat tip screw driver and bent a 90 degree 3/8" end on it to help me remove the plug wire boots. Vacuumed/cleaned around all spark plugs. ..Shorten a spark plug socket(ground down both ends and removed the rubber insert), on which I used a regular open-end wrench to remove plugs 1A and 1B. (My car didn't come with a spark plug wrench) The rest of the plugs I removed with a long extension and swivel. All plug holes were vacuumed and cleaned. Plugs were gaped to .025" and threads coated with anti-seize, and restarted with a 10 inch section of 5/16 rubber tubing(got this from you guys). All plug boots were coated on the inside with silicon greese( as recommended by BW) I really questioned the .025 plug gap, but every where I looked, that's what was called out. THE BEAST RUNS BETTER THAN EVER! If people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. 92 XJS-V12 87 VET 90 CHEVY P/U 46 WILLIES 91 BLAZER 36" chain saw
