Hey, I resemble that remark...

Those "people" are probably the lurkers on the list -- like me -- who are
furioisly saving their money for a Jag of their own... and trying to work
out which Jag variety they'll get first. ;-)

This Jag-watching thing get to be quite a consuming hobby... you should
have seen the look on my face when I was first able to tell the difference
between a XJ6 SI and SII on the road (SIII are relativley easy) then moved
on to refine my skills to distinguish between long and short wheelbase XJ6
Jags.

And last month I was blessed with the experience of seeing a XJC real
(actually a Daimler 4.2) in a parking lot. I mean car park -- I'm starting
to talk American here... It was raining, but I just had to circle the car
several times and check it out from all angles (except underneath, which
could be considered unacceptable behaviour here in Sydney).

Regarding the V12 vs V8 debate, let's not forget that Jaguar/Lyons had a V8
back in the 60s, the Daimler 2.5 liter engine. Whatever happened to it?

Thanks to Kirby, Michael Neal, Chad and all of the other professional
contributors who are arguably giving their intellectual property away for
free to folks like me on this forum. A book outa be compiled of the wisdom
and the proceeds split between those responsible for its wisdom.

And what happened to Leonard?

Vaughan

who is at this moment longing for a XJ6 Series II short wheelbase 4.2 --
though a V12 would be OK too -- but that changes with each Jaguar I see...
<sigh>
