[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index] Lister at Daytona
I did get to the 24 hours at Daytona this year and I was very impressed with the Lister's performance. I was timing it throughout the night and it was usually faster then the Viper and occasionally got downwards of the WSC cars' times. I understand it was a 7.0 liter V12 with a sequential box. On the backstretch it sounded like a very high revving six, not like the previous growl I remember. Their pit was right at the entrance to the paddock, so I had an excellent vantage point to watch the team in action. They ran very strong right up to the last hour when they started having cooling problems. They were in and out of the pits spraying the rad down and feeding it more coolant, but it gave in about *10 minutes* before 24 hours. Heartache was plentiful this year for most of the teams though. I have friends on the Riley and Scott Danka car (Wayne Taylor's ride) who were favored to win the WSC class, but dropped in the early morning with a broken motor. Everyone is looking at Sebring as a chance to get back into it. I only wish the Lister would run Sebring. -- Dave Oxenreider '73 XJ12 '75 TR6 AVI's homepage http://www.av-imagineering.com daveox@av-imagineering.com 76764.274@compuserve.com
