Put it in place of the dipstick and mark it so you can still pull it out to read the oil level manually. I still stick with the original mechanical idea that says that a very small vacuum (or pressure) could be applied to a rod in place of the oil dipstick. Any oil covering this hole would apply some resistance to the pressure and show oil. How about a small hole in the pan with a tube on it(or the tube in the dipstick). Place mouth firmly over end of long tube connected into this hole. Suck (or blow, your choice). Resistance to your efforts equals oil. No resistance = no oil. Additional benefit. If you are not sober enough to pass this test and get oil in your mouth, don't drive...
