Re: XJ 6 windscreen replacement

Somebody on the list (*) recently asked about the odds and ends WRT
replacing an XJ6 windscreen; somebody else (**) warned that it was glued.
Thanks a lot, **. (sorry, haven't kept the messages).

End December, a flying gravel hit my windscreen (86 XJ6 S3) and chipped it. 
I brought the car to a trusted professional. Having read **'s mail, I warned him
that  the windscreen was glued (whereas his reference material says different). 
Sure enough, checking on the car revealed that it was indeed glued.

To cut a long story short, it's a professional's job. It took him the better
part of 7 hours to do it, and careful as he was, he had to replace the
chromed trimming. Fortunately, all this is covered by my insurance.
