[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index] Water catchment tank unplugged
85 XJS HE. would loose water slowly. I couldn't find the leak. When I stopped the engine the pressure was high in the engine so steam excaped out of the radiator cap. The line to the overflow tank was very plugged. A cheepo air compressor was attached to the line and when it hit 60lbs of air pressure down the line (hoping I didn't have to pull the tank), I heard the bubbles in the tank. Air went in but water wouldn't freely go both directions. So I filled a garden hose with hot water and put 60lbs of air pressure behind it and eventually water came out of the tank. The system seems fine now, it doesn't loose water, runs cool. Never saw any gook come out of the tank and still don't know why it was plugged. It's still for sale for $6500 Russ Lehman "pessimists are accurate; optimists live longer" Internet: rlehman@npr.org
