Anti-Sway Bars for XJ6

As I mentioned to the group, I am in the midst of some discussions with
John Carlson of Addco about improving his company's offerings of anti-sway
bars for Jaguars. We have already discussed the problem of Addco assuming
that the XJ-S comes with a rear bar, and since it doesn't the owner is forced
to contact Jaguar for a bunch of additional parts in order to install the
Addco bar. With any luck, Carlson will not only see that this is corrected,
but may redesign the mounting scheme to allow a bolt-on installation without
having to weld the attachment points to the radius arms.

The Addco catalog indicates they have bars for the XJ-S and XJ12, but not the
XJ6. From Carlson, I gathered that this was based on the assumption that the
XJ-S and XJ12 came with a stock rear bar, but not the XJ6.

If Carlson ends up with a kit to fit the XJ-S that doesn't require the car to
have had one to begin with, I suspect it might also fit the XJ6 -- which
would GREATLY increase his potential customer base. However, I can't really
advise him here. So, let me post a few questions:

1) Does the XJ6 have built-in bosses behind the back seat for mounting of a
rear anti-sway bar, like the XJ-S has?

2) Would the SAME bar that fits an XJ-S also likely fit an XJ6? Does anyone
know if part numbers for XJ12 bars were the same as the part numbers for XJ-S
bars? Will we have to get into the differences between the SWB and LWB and
between SI/II/III?

3) Would XJ6 owners like a rear anti-sway bar? And, if so, would the same
stiffness offered for the XJ-S be appropriate?

The original (pre-1979) rear anti-sway bar for the XJ-S is 9/16" thick and
provides balanced handling when used with the stock 7/8" front bar. Addco
doesn't seem to offer ANYTHING smaller than 5/8", I'm not even sure they
have any spring stock smaller than that. So, I fully expect that they will
begin to offer a 5/8" bar for use with the stock front bar on the XJ-S and
maybe a 3/4" bar for use with their 1" front bar. Carlson and I agreed that
the 7/8" bar they presently offer is probably completely beyond reason and
scaring customers off.

Isbell: Can I refer this guy to you for further input on the XJ6?
