I'm a new member!

Hi there...

2nd attempt - hope I got it right this time!

My name is Ian Johnson, and I've just joined your e-mail list.

I live in Christchurch, New Zealand. I am 21 years old, and I work in the
music retail industry as the IT Manager for The CD Store Ltd, an average
sized nationwide compact disc retailer.

I was fortunate to recently acquire a 1972 Jaguar XJ Series 1 Daimler
Sovereign (the 2.8 litre model) for $NZ6500 (about £2900). I'm not sure
which number on the car is the vehicle identification number, but there is
a number stamped on a small piece of metal attached to the body just inside
the drivers door (about level with the side mirror). That number is 1650.

The car is in great condition. To the best of my knowledge it is
completely original (fickle AED unit and all!). It was first registered
privately in New Zealand in 1972. It then spent about 11 years from 1983
as a wedding car, before being bought in 1995 by the person I bought it
from in mid 1996. The car has travelled about 105000 miles, all on the
original engine.

Mike, the person I bought it from, had the engine overhauled at
considerable expense (about £1300). The engine is consequently in very
good condition, although one cylinder occasionally refuses to participate
when the engine is cold. Oh, and she leaks oil like a seive. My landlord
has not yet seen the puddle in the garage! Luckily it does not appear to
have any rust, although it appears to have had some panels repainted. The
colour is red with cream leather.

I am very fond of the vehicle, and I am keen to keep it for some time.

Thanks for the opportunity to join this forum,

Ian Johnson
