What's the correct idle speed for an XJ40 at normal operating temperature? What controls the throttle response? Lately my XJ40 doesn't want to drop RPM back down to idle speed quickly enough. As I approach stop signs, it seems I'm fighting to slow the car down. If I switch to neutral, the engine revs to 1200 then drops slowly to 1000 and eventually stays around 750, but it takes it much too long to drop down to that speed.
