A very good way to cool the exhaust is to run it through a Laval-type
turbine with expansion nozzles. The recovered energy can be utilised in
various ways. And if the extra cooling water is injected directly into the
inlet ports, the resulting steam will increase the turbine output as well
as the piston engine output.

Ahhh, a turbo-compound V12! Such heights of complexity! And of course we'll
contract the Control system to Lucas (what, me sick?). At least we'll make
some use of all that steam!
