US, 1990 Jaguar XJS V12 Convertible, Once - long time ago - I read in this list of somebody who made a utility truck out of his XJS coupe by leaving the rear open. Well, mine is the 2- seater convertible with the small compartment - more of a chocolate box I' d rather say - behind the two seats. I looked into the constuction of that compartment and I found that inside it is made of wood - half to one inch thich - where the rear speakers are screwed on. The outside part is thin metal sheet, that is somehow connected on the wood at the top, but it is freely suspended at the bottom. Of course, underneath these there starts a thick iron metal bar and so on, which I did not bother to see clearly. My theory is that I can easily cut the wood uniformly - after I take the speakers out - at both sides, and make two cuts to the metal too at both sides, so that I remove both of the pieces that constitute the front wall, then the chocolate box will become space for seating. Of course, I wouldn' t want to be seating there in case of an accident because, probably, the person' s spine will break to 2 pieces from the force of the impact, but anyway, during normal driving, it might make it easier to transport another chick, or two according to the occasion (rare but it can happen). I do not have the guts to hurt the car so seriously though, so I never got to test my theory and, probably, I never will. Am I the only one out there thinking of this kind of motification? Am I the only one sick of looking at that compartment? Is there any other solution? If there are any screws that release the whole thing and make it possible for the compartment to break down into pieces and come out, I would go for it immediately. Thanks in advance, Chris, 1990 Jaguar XJS V12 Convertible,
