[xj-s] [Fwd: Burning Transmission fluid]

-- BEGIN included message

I have noticed blue smoke from the right tail pipe during acceleration
recently. I mentioned it in this forum and received word that it may be
the valve stem guides, or perhaps, transmission fluid through a faulty
modulator. I had an opportunity this weekend to remove the right side
air cleaner, and lo and behold, I saw what looked to be transmission
fluid on and around the butterfly. Exactly where is this coming from,
and can I seal the leak? I had the trans looked at some months ago, and
was told that it needed some work done(approx $900)
After driving the car today in extreme heat conditions, I popped the
hood after parking it. I noticed a stream or plume of smoke coming from
the area where the auto transmission dip stick is. The smoke was coming
out as if it were under pressure. Any ideas as to what this is?? Is it
related to the previous problem??
An ad in the local paper had an 87 xj-s being parted out. The engine
sold for $200, but the trans is still for sale(approx $150). Would this
be worth picking up?? Thanks in advance for all the help
