Went to start the car yesterday evening for the trip home and it was "misbehaving." Left exhaust went "mmmmm," right one was "fluff-fluff-fluff." The problem had disappeared by the time I got home, but on a hunch I lifted the hood (bonnet) and checked out the injector connections on the right bank. Some time ago, I had noticed that the plastic bits were very brittle from the heat and many were broken around the skirt and a couple had lost the metal spring clips that hold them in place. Sure enough, I found one that had a spark plug lead under it giving it a little upward pressure. Over time, the connection had lifted and apparently caused the injector to become intermittent. I pushed it back down, pushed the spark lead out of the way, and didn't have the problem again last night or this morning (knock on wood). Now, what's the best way to secure those connections that have lost a clip? I wouldn't want to use electrical tape, for example, because of the heat and it would just look tacky. I'm also not particularly interested in replacing them all, I have enough to do. In any case, thanks very much, Jan. I wish I could buy you a beer, I'd make it a "stubbie," mate! (I hope that's the right term for those huge bottles of beer and that I haven't just insulted you:)).
