[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index] [xj-s] exhaust leak
Lee, this is a common problem. There is a small chance of a leak at the manifold to head connection, but the most likely cause is the header connection to the exhaust manifold (don't bother with WD40). Remove the air filters, and you have access to two of the header nuts. See if you can tighten them. Both of my cars had the same leak and the nuts were loose. You can access the inboard header nuts from under the car (difficult, but can be done without removing the steering rack). Tighten all the nuts and your problem is solved, until they come loose again in a couple of weeks. I purchased new nuts because the locking mechanism is required, doing this job every couple of weeks is tedious. Good Luck.
