Hello All, The saga continues with the 1990 XJS air conditioning system. First I thought it was the expansion valve. After much discussion and finally having my Jag mechanic check it out, he says that this is not the problem. The problem according to him is the air conditioning hose from the compressor to the fuel cooler. ($150.00), the GM compressor ($260.00), which he tells me is leaking from the rear plate. By the way this is for a rebuilt compressor. New schrader valves ($16.00) and $100.00 for R-12 freon. Add to this $350.00 in labor charges, plus tax is over $900.00 for what I thought was a bad expansion valve. Just remember it can always get worse!! Question here: my close friend's Father is a GM certified tech. Working with him and buying the parts myself brings the job in at under $400.00. Is there something significantly different with the jag air con system even though it is a GM? Follow-Ups:
