I think the "shimmy" in the 89-92 convertibles you have driven are due to something other than being a convertible. My 89MY factory convertible has no such shimmy at any speed. FWIW, there are many structual changes in the factory convertible to make up for no "top". The most notable are two large (1 1/4 ") cross braces in front of the A/C condenser(radiator). In the Jag parts manual for 89 there are many different structual parts differences around the doors, etc. just for the convertible. They seem to do the job on my Jag. H&E of course probably do not have any such mods. Mike 1989MY XJ-S V12
