[xj-s] Got the Alternator out

Well, using the information supplied by several members of this list I
finaly got the alternator out. But, no one mentioned that I had to
disconnect the upper radiator hose. Add that to your notes people.

The unit is now at the repair shop being rebuilt which I hope will be
cheaper than a new one. It had NO output so I suspect diodes. The
bearings were quiet so I suppose they wont replace them.

I also had them give me a strange explination for the small blade connector
near the side of the case that is recessed in the case. There was no wire
connected there so I asked about it and was told, "Its an *IGNITOR*
connection as some regulators need it." This seems like a strange answer
since the regulator in internal (isnt it?). If its internal then they
should know before it leaves the factory wheather or not it needs an
*IGNITOR* connection (what ever that is?).

Maybe I shouldnt asume too much, after all it is Lucas.
                                    Cheers, Jim
