The guy at the radiator shop says that Barr's Leaks is generally
recommended by manufacturers to seal head gaskets. He confirmed it
is a disaster for radiators, and recommends not using it.

I'd like to know where Scott's liners were leaking: at the head
gasket, or at the lip where they sit on the block?

Regardless, you won't find me putting any of that crap in my coolant.
If I have head gasket leaks, I'll deal with it. As far as I know,
the V12 has little or no trouble with head gaskets (as opposed to the
XK 6-cyl) so maybe this recommendation was force of habit from
Jaguar.

Here's my suggestion: I'd be willing to bet that if the mechanics
assembling the engines would use anti-seize compound on the head
studs, there wouldn't be any problems with head gaskets! With the
anti-seize compound, less of the torque applied to the nuts goes to
overcoming thread friction and more of the torque goes to tensioning
the studs, so there's more and more even compression on the head
gasket. I have a grand total of one half of one engine's experience
here (the A bank of my car), but there was NO indication of coolant
leakage past the head gasket and no Barr's Leaks was ever used.
