[xj-s] Good News!

The radiator shop called today, my radiator is ready. I asked the
guy how it looked, and he replied that it was "stopped up big time!"

Good news? It is to me. Y'see, while others just take the car
apart, R&R whatever looks broken, and put it back together, I have a
big problem with reassembling something until I can figure out WHY it
broke. I have been looking for a cause for overheating problems with
no luck; even looking into the fittings on the radiator gave no real
indication of the problem. But in hindsight, none of the main hose
connections are anywhere near the bottom, so the crud could collect
in there for quite a while before you could tell by looking in the
holes.

I asked what the stuff looked like, and he said you could name it and
it was in there -- rust, sealant, etc. He mentioned that there were
quite a few chunks of silicone sealant in there where someone had
evidently applied too much on a joint and it had squeezed out and
peeled off in chunks. I didn't use any silicone sealant to speak of
in my work on the car, but I sure did find a LOT of it from the PO.
The entire LH thermostat housing looked like it was covered with it.
It looked kinda like the guy had tried to seal leaks from the
OUTSIDE.

Anyhow, I'm hoping things run plenty cool when reassembled. I will
probably pull the thermostats out and test them anyway.
