RE: XJ6 Rough idle

Gunnar,
Excellent suggestion, but no cigar. I disconnected the fuel line to the
injector and it still ran rough when warm. However you have saved me the
expense of buying a cold start injector to swap out with, and have eliminated
one more component. Thanks.

Mike,

Try disconnecting the gas line to the cold start injector (just remember
to plug the hose before you try to start the car!)

Seems the most common failure mode for these cold start injectors is to
leak gas into the manifold when they shouldn't. Disconnecting the
electrical connector won't help, it's probably a mechanical leak inside
the injector. In other words, it can't keep shut when it should (when
it's told to by the electronics).

One more thing: Don't disconnect any part of the fuel system while it's
still pressurized! Either bleed the system per the manual or let the car
sit for a while, long enough for all engine parts to get stone cold and
the pressure to drop somewhat. Either way, make sure your workplace is
well ventilated, no smoking and so on and so forth...

Gunnar
