Heed him. Above all, swapping out the vacuum modulator is something you can do yourself from under the car, with no serious dismantling and no big-time bills from a Jaguar workshop. And if it turns out that it was something else - why, you'll have a spare modulator for the inevitable time when the old one breaks. Been there, done that. - Jan
