Hi guys, Steering. I had a question from a fellow club member who thinks his steering wheel is reluctant to return after having made a turn; he has to force it back, that it doesn't "spin" back into the straight foreward position. Severe oversteering. I, and many with me, am aware that the power steering on the early cars was somewhat light and doesn't provide very much road-feel. I also know that changing the belt pulley on the power pump gives a heavier steering thus more road-feel. He also had a theory that changing the caster by removing shims might help. I strongly advised against tampering with the geometry! Do any of you have some advise to offer? Oil pressure. His oil pressure gauge gives a high reading when cold, but sinks low as the engine warms up. I suggested he replace the sender unit. Any other suggestions? Thanks in advance.
