Assuming you can get/have a voltmeter then run the following checks with the starter switched on - get someone to hold the switch on while you run the checks. Make sure all your voltmeter connections are onto the actual equipment, not the respecive cables. I assume your car to be negative earth. Before switching on the starter and with the voltmeter connected as per 1. - no load volts should be arround 12.5 on a healthy battery. 1. Check across positive and negative battery posts - result 10 + volts 2. Casing of starter motor to battery negative post - result <1.0 volt 3. Positive on starter [heavy terminal] to battery positive post - result <1.0 volt. 4. Positive on starter [small terminal] to battery positive post - result <0.5 volt. These tests should put you on the track of the problem. Note that bad connections tend to get hot. Hope this helps find the bug. -- Keith Lumsdaine 1988 Daimler 3.6 http://home.sn.no/home/nick/jecglasgow/keith.htm
