From what I've seen the gummy advance problem is unique to the V-12 HE
distributor. Earlier distributors also had a problem with siezing, but
these galled from a total lack of lubrication. The 25D* series was
good for this after 15 or 20 years of never being oiled.

The 25D6 had the dry galling mentioned above. The 45D*6 seems to be fairly
immune. The 45D was used in SII and SIII XJ's in both point and electronic
forms.
