[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index] Lister storm @ Rolex 24hours
The Lister Storm ran very well throughout most of the race. It was one of the only non-World Class cars that the Viper couldn't outrun. At night, they rode it so hard that the brakes lit up through the hairpin turn. Those two cars were also the only cars that the World Class cars couldn't always pass in the short straight aways (all others they blew away). They were in the top 7 or 8 until morning when we returned. The Viper was still running but out of contention and the Lister was going from the pits to their garage and back to the pits trying to cure what appeared to be an overheating problem. They never solved this problem nor returned to the race. This is a little info I received from John Schuck in Beijing: "The Lister Storm is a 4 seat front engined V12 jag powered car built from the ground up. The race car uses the same basic setup as the street car, but with more carbon fiber and some weight loss. I think the street car uses a Getrag 5 speed, but the racecar uses a Hewland sequential 6 speed. It shifts like a motorcycle. They had trouble with this last year and I heard via Motorsport International (on the web), that it caused problems this year. My friend has an older model Lister..basically a twin supercharged XJ12 that puts out about 500-600 h.p. " Surprisingly there was no Jaguar clubs in attendence. There were Porsche clubs, Viper clubs etc. Anyone know of a Jaguar Club in West Palm Beach or Lauderdale? Jeff 88 XJSC
