Fantastic Brake Service !

Hi!

I just wanted to let everyone know...F.Y.I.

I recently needed a total brake job on my 1985 XJS. I got quotes from
well known brake and muffler shops, dealer, and other such repair
shops that have experience with brake jobs on this model Jag. The
quotes ran from $1,000 to in excess of $2,500 (including parts which
these shops supply). Which I think is totally outrageous. So, it
was time for me to get out there and look around or if necessary, do it
my self... I was just about to do it myself when I ran across a brake
shop in Dallas (where I live). They quoted me a labor rate for the
whole thing of $250. I asked them to repeat that quote and they
did.... They had the experience. I checked them out with one attorney
and the BBB... Everything checked out nicely. I gambled and went for
it. I supplied the parts...all OEM. I bought the parts at Johns Cars,
Inc. The total outlay for parts including rotors (rear) and emergency
brake pads...caliper kit for rear, front and rear pads (all metallic),
hoses for brake reservior, wheel bearing seals, brake fluid, etc...
came to about $280 tax included. The total cost of this brake job
which included turning rotors in front, bleeding brakes, refilling with
Castrol fluid, and repacking the wheel bearings...all came to $530. I
think they did a great job and highly recommend them to anyone with
classic or collector cars or the difficult ones to service
brakes...like the XJS...inline rotors are a real pain in the a...

The place is Quick Stop Brake and Muffler in Dallas. Their telephone
number is 214-363-7390.

Hope this helps...whenever you might need a brake job..or if you know
someone who does in and around the DFW area...

Best,
David Blender
