Ah yes. that does call for a clarification. ABS systems call for (and
need) DOT4 fluid. Not DOT3, not "DOT5" (silicone). This does apply to
XJ40s and 89> XJS'.

This is not the same thing as the early British systems. The fluid required
in the 50/60's cars must be compatable with the rubber used. The fluid
readily available in the US for this just so happens to be DOT4 spec. ABS
systems require the boiling point (wet) of DOT4 fluid, and don't care about
being compatable with old British rubber.

Now I'm sitting here trying to remember when US spec 'Rovers got ABS....
