After fine tuning mu carbs by professionals, I experienced problems with getting my car idling between shutoff of the aux carb and getting fully warm. What I really needed was a maunual choke. I didn't want to enrichen the mixture, because it idles fine when warm, and drives beautifully. After tuning it uses about 12litres per 100 kms which I consider very good for a 3.8 auto. No one could really help me with my problen, so I fitted a lid in front of the air intake on the big filter housing. When cold, I position the lid so that it restrictes the air intake, giving a richer mixture, and when fully warm, I pull a string from the driver seat which removes the lid and thus increases the air intake. Self made manual choke, and a very inexpensive conversion at that!! About carcoons. I've removed the heating element from a fan-oven (is that the right name for it?), so just the propeller works. Then made an opening in my garage wall and mountet the fan to the opening. It should be working exactly like a carcoon but makes the car more accesible. Lastly a question. I'm considering replacing my brake fluid with silicone when installing my overhauled front calipers (I sent them to Classicar Automotive). I'm interested in pro and cons, and wouldn't mind any practical tips. Do I totaly drain the system first? Do I rinse it with something before putting in the silicone etc. Tanks Regards Stein Hovind 3.8 S-type -66 Audi 90 -86
