OK, quickie survey here:  How many Jaguar owners on this list bought their 
Jag because it had acceptable fuel economy?

I succeeds very well at accomplishing the wrong objectives.  Tell it to a 
Ford exec, we're not impressed.

IOW, we KNOW we screwed up and made the engine too small, but we can fix it 
with a quickie upgrade!  Lessee, now, just how many legendary Jaguars had 
superchargers?

Is there any V8 that doesn't?

In whose humble opinion?  From all accounts, the V-12 could have easily been 
made into a 7+ litre engine, and it wouldn't weigh any more nor cost any 
more than it did in the past.  That would have made a simple revision to the 
existing engine far preferable to the "all new Jaguar design".

Still not up-to-date enough?  Fine -- fit new 4-valve heads to it, based on 
the AJ6 heads.

IMHO, Mercedes appeals to a different market.
