[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index] XJ6 Series 1 Wheels
I am freshening up the exterior of a 1972 XJ6 4.2, factory off white in colour, and I am wondering what was the original (non-chrome) pressed steel wheel finish and colour? I'm not referring to the later chrome S2 wheels that heaps of people have retrofitted to early S1s. The PO has fitted a set of vomitorious fake spoke (plastic) wheeltrims and painted the wheels a gold colour. What is the right colour, and did all pressed steel wheels in S1 XJs come with chrome wheel trim bands. Also, is the microswitch in the throttle cable the only kick-down actuation for the BW12, or will it go down under low vacuum (open but not full throttle)? My trans seems real lazy on kickdown, but lets the engine do its thing going up on full noise. Finally, will S2 4 pots and ventillated rotors clear S1 steel wheels? Thanks in advance for your help........ Andrew Robertson 2 XJs
