[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index] Air conditioning...
I know, not exactly the time of year to check it. But there is a bit of a rush as there is a rumour that we in Canada will only have 3 months before all work done has to be in the new refigerants. That means an extra couple of hundred bucks over a normal complete recharge (which is also bloody expensive). I have found out mine is charged, but as yet don't know how well. Thermal fuse has been removed, and by the grease on the plug it appears to be ok. I put a 20 amp fuse in place of it and the clutch pulls ok and it runs without strange noises. Of course I blew the heater fuse right off the bat. Someone put a 25 amp fuse in where there is supposed to be a 50. Ok, now to the question. I have the service section in the Jaguar manual, but I'll be darned if it says if the compressor is a continuous run unit, or a demand unit. This one runs as long as the heat is on. I know GM run this way, and mix the air, but how about Jag. This is on an early series III and appears to be GM stock compressor. If it is not a continuous run, is there a common fault that makes them run in this manner? Tom, thinking of summer, in British Columbia (and yes it does take 2 Lucas engineers to change a bulb, one to do it, the other to explain why it doesn't work quite right)
