new to list, considering XJ6

Hello folks, it`s great to be here. I have subscribed to the
British car list for about 3 years and have decided to branch out to a
list about my true favorite, Jaguar.
I am thinking about buying a seriesIII Vanden Plas. Thus I am
wondering if there is an FAQ file anywhere I can look at, so I don`t
have to bomb the list with the same questions you have heard a million
times. I have been down this road before, having owned a series II with
a 350 conversion, but this time I want pure Jag, and anticipate those
unique problems that you don`t find in the Chevy.
I plan on using the car for my short 6 mile commute to work, with
occasional trips in the 50 to 100 mile range. While reading other
newsgroups I see other people complaining about how terrible their
Tauruses, Chrysler products or Mercedes are, so how much worse can an
XJ be as a daily driver? Besides I have a `71 El Camino as a backup
car. 25 year old Chevys NEVER break, right?
