[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index] RE: missing oil cooler
Michael, I know or deal with about a half-dozen repair shops. Some are run by friends (no chicanery ever) and the others, including my local Jag dealer, are pure business relationships. None of them ever heard anything about the chronic Jag problem of seized centrifugal weights. Not even the Jag dealer, although maybe they do know and don't tell. I'll go further and say that no Jag owner I've encountered (EXCEPT FOR THOSE ON THIS LIST) has ever heard of it, either. You get these strange looks when you bring it up. ("If I don't know, then it can't hurt me.") I find it hard to believe, but it looks like a lot of the information regarding the idiosyncrasies of these cars never reaches the people who can use it most. Perhaps this is part of the reason why so many Jag owners have bad experiences with repair shops. Boy, I had a real winner when I first bought my XJ-S. A supposed 'Jaguar Specialist' couldn't diagnose a disconnected MAP line! While those of us who can benefit from this list and the postings of people like you and Kirby have a real leg up, most Jag owners don't, and even WITH this Internet resource, some still get 'skunked'. John > Paul, > It wasn't your particular case and you were very lenient on the guy but a > trend has developed on the list that I can see causing the list a problem. Follow-Ups:
