I -agree-, wiring in a switch to run the pump manually is a great way
to bypass the insufficient pre-charge time the computer runs the pump
before cranking the engine. Two seconds is often to short to do the
job.  The minimum amount of time for the timer to run the pump should
be at least ten seconds.  I was incuding the method I described for
the other readers of this list who are either unwilling or unable to
do any type of modifications to the existing wiring.
