[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index] fuel press. regulator - V12
Message text written by INTERNET:Juliansean@aol.com >Would it be correct to assume that if the fuel press. reg. went bad that high fuel press. could result, followed by running rich?< I would expect *low* fuel pressure to be a more common failure mode (tired spring, adjusting screw coming loose, gum in the works), especially as the valve spends most of the engine running time open. In normal cruising around speed-limited areas, I'd guess at least 4/5 of what the fuel pump delivers isn't used by the engine, so if the valve sticks, I'd expect it to stick open. I've never had a failure, except when (right after I bought the first Jag) a prominent Jag workshop confused psi with kg/cm^2; they set my regulators to 3.2 kg/cm^2 instead of 32 psi and replaced one regulator when they couldn't screw it up high enough. The engine was a bit lumpy when I drove home... The same workshop thought something was wrong with the feed pipes from the tanks because the engine stopped when they switched tanks...the left tank was empty, as faithfully indicated by the gauge. I gave the car to them for injection tune-up only because it needed equipment I didn't have. After that experience, I decided it would be a better idea to buy the test equipment... -Jan
