Still, I >can't help being a little apprehensive about the prospect of a much more complex >Jaguar, especially (gasp!)a V12. Wives tales are hard to kill. The more inaccurate, the harder. As you've found with the Triumph, proper mantainance makes for a reliable car. I've heard so many horror stories and it's hard >to separate fact from fiction. (i.e., you have to remove the engine from it's >mounts to change the last two spark plugs, etc. etc.) Fiction. It's a Chevy that required engine relocation in order to get at the back plugs (76 Monza 305 V8). The V-12 has the plugs inboard of the banks; straight down the middle. The engine stays on it's mounts. The A/C system has to be removed, but the engine stays put. :> :> >Is there anyone out there with any advice and/or recommendations? I live on Long >Island, New York. thanks in advance- Find a mechanic (not just a shop) that knows these cars. Talk to them about the differences between the 6 and S. The V-12 is more expensive to maintain, and more unforgiving of lack of mantainance. then, have this mechanic look at any car you are seriously thinking about buying. > > jb > Randy K.
